Seven questions before you commit a workflow.
Any tool that sorts footage by person will save you time in a demo. Whether it saves you time on the tenth real job depends on these. Ask them of anything you are weighing up, Tabor8 included - the answers for Tabor8 are in each note.
What you get back: clips, or an index
Ask: At the end of the process, do you have editable clip files sorted into folders, or a searchable index that points into the original footage?
Why it matters: An index still leaves you scrubbing - just with a better starting point. Cut clips, grouped by person and padded with a lead-in and lead-out, are something you can drop straight on a timeline. This one decision is most of the time saved or not saved. Tabor8 produces clips, not an index.
Grouping accuracy on real shoot conditions
Ask: How does it do on side-on angles, low light, motion blur and partial faces - not on a well-lit portrait?
Why it matters: Every tool demos well on clean footage. Event and sports footage is not clean. Ask for output from footage like yours, and judge the first pass as "how much scrubbing did this remove", not "is it perfect".
The correction workflow
Ask: When it splits one person into two folders, or merges two people into one, how long does fixing that take?
Why it matters: Recognition errors are not a question of if. A two-click merge is a non-event; a tool with no correction path, or one that makes you re-run the whole scan, turns every error into real work. Tabor8 has a manual merge tool built for exactly this.
Footage scale
Ask: Is it built for a phone's camera roll, or for hours of multi-camera professional footage?
Why it matters: A lot of "AI video organizer" tools are consumer photo-library products with video bolted on. They fall over on the volume a single shoot produces. Check the stated limits, and check whether the pricing assumes gigabytes or terabytes.
Delivery
Ask: Once the footage is sorted, how does a specific person's clips get to a client or a second editor?
Why it matters: If the answer is "export it and upload it somewhere else", the tool has handed you back a second job. A per-person link that opens without an account removes that step. Tabor8 delivers by revocable share link, per project or per person.
The privacy and retention model
Ask: What happens to the footage and the face-recognition data after the job - how long is it kept, who can reach it, and how is it deleted?
Why it matters: You are uploading other people's faces. A vague answer here is a real risk, both to your clients and to you under the law that applies where you work. What it does not do
Ask: Does the tool tell you plainly where it stops - or do you have to find the gaps yourself three weeks in?
