Four hours a project, back.
The shoot is the job you were hired for. The sorting pass afterwards is the one nobody pays for. Tabor8 does that part instead: it watches every frame, works out who is in it, and gives the footage back to you already filed by person.
Where that number comes from: Tim, who shoots on Tabor8, estimates it saves him about four hours of scrubbing per project. It is his estimate, not a measurement. Tabor8 has no way to time the workflow it replaced, and we would rather tell you that than dress an estimate up as data. Four projects over one month is a small sample, so we have not multiplied it out into a yearly figure.
What those four hours actually were
Eight hours of footage, four cameras, forty people in frame. Somewhere in there is every shot of the bride's father, every clip of the keynote speaker, every touch player number 22 got on the ball. Before you can cut anything, somebody has to watch all of it and write down where those moments are.
That is the pass Tabor8 removes. Not the edit, not the story, not the grade. The part where you scrub a timeline looking for a face you already know is in there somewhere.
What it takes off the stack
Five things a videographer pays for or does by hand. Tabor8 takes two of them completely and part of three more. Where it only goes part of the way, that is written on the row.
The sorting pass
ReplacesYou, or an assistant editor, going through every file to find who is in what.
Tabor8 scans every frame, groups the clips by person, and hands back a folder per face plus a b-roll folder. Cuts come out padded, ready to drop on a timeline.
WeTransfer and Dropbox links, for delivery
ReplacesZipping a selection, uploading it again, sending a link that expires.
A share link per project or per person. Revocable, no account needed at the other end, single clip or the whole folder as a zip.
The limit: A share link carries the cut clips, not your raw footage.
The drive the footage lives on
Replaces partAn external drive, or a Google Drive folder, holding everything from the shoot.
Raw footage stays in cloud storage with the project. Nothing expires on you.
The limit: Video only. No stills, no project files, no documents - so it replaces the footage drive, not the whole Drive folder.
Per-person galleries
Replaces partBuilding a gallery for each person, or fielding the "can you send me mine" emails one at a time.
Every person already has a folder, and a link that opens straight to them.
The limit: You send each person their link. They cannot yet find themselves by submitting a photo, which is the thing photo galleries do.
The handoff into Premiere or Resolve
Replaces partDragging in raw files and rebuilding the selects by hand.
You import clips that are already cut and already grouped by who is in them.
The limit: They arrive as clips, not as a timeline. There is no XML, EDL or FCPXML export yet.
Where the line is
Four things Tabor8 is regularly assumed to do, and does not. If one of these is the reason you are looking, it is better to find that out here than three weeks in.
Search by what was said or shown
There is no text search, no semantic search and no transcription. The way you find things is by person. If you need to find the moment someone said a particular sentence, Tabor8 will not do that.
Client review and approval
No comments, no annotations, no approval states, no version stacking. If your process runs through a review round with a client, that still happens wherever it happens now.
Editing past the cut
Clips are trimmed and split in the browser, and that is the whole editor. No titles, transitions, audio track, colour or captions. The honest version of the pitch is that you never open an editor for the common job, not that you stop needing one.
A searchable archive across past events
Projects persist, but there is no search for one person across every shoot you have ever run. That is a different product and it is not built.

Two things to know before you apply
- Accounts are New Zealand only for now, and invite-only. Tabor8 is in a private beta run out of New Zealand, so signup is by application rather than a credit card. If you are outside New Zealand you can read everything here, but you cannot open an account yet.
- The people you deliver to are not restricted. A share link opens anywhere in the world, with no account and no app. The gate is on having a Tabor8 account, not on receiving footage from one.
