The part of the job nobody films for
A wedding is shot across getting-ready, ceremony, portraits, speeches and the party: multiple cameras, no shot list, no second take. Before the edit can start, someone has to watch all of it and find every clip of the couple, the parents, the wedding party, and the guests who'll be asked about later. That is not editing. It is the toll you pay before editing.
Tim Stevens, one of Tabor8's founders, is a working NZ wedding and event videographer. He built the first version of this because that toll was costing him real time, turning a 4-hour wedding shoot's sorting pass into roughly 11 minutes of his own time, down from about 2 hours.
What Tabor8 actually does
Upload every card from every camera in one go. Tabor8 scans the footage overnight and hands back one folder per person it finds, plus a b-roll folder for the wide and detail shots with nobody in them. Each clip comes cut with a few seconds of lead-in and lead-out, ready to drop on a timeline, not a raw dump you still have to trim.
If it splits one person across two folders, you merge them yourself in a couple of clicks. Then, in the browser, you can trim, reorder, split and rotate clips on a timeline before you export: a rough cut, done before your real editor even opens.
What Tabor8 doesn't do
No colour grading. No audio mixing. No transitions or effects. Tabor8 hands you sorted, trimmed, ready-to-edit clips. The finished story still gets built in Premiere, Resolve, or Final Cut, same as always. If you're looking for software that finishes the edit for you, this is not it. If you're looking for the four hours back before you even start, it is.
